Artist's Comments

This had started just as a little and fast drawing before make a more difficult one I've promised a friend long ago. But I forgot I don't know how to paint the sea properly and also that castles and ships are always a huge task. So I've spent hours and hours v_v. The worst was do the lines with ink, I almost destroyed the picture but bleach can save you sometimes if you're painting with Quink

Brilliant, brilliant, hundred times brilliant. This piece's got everything: the ambience, the climax, lots of details on the ship and sea and it's just greatly done. Certain fave :)

I'm not racist, I've got color television!

Och! Thank you. Your comment is more than encouraging, I'm really glad.
It's also great to hear that you're able to distinguish the details, some of them have been very difficult to paint (In fact the dimensions are 13x16 cm). A few of them impossible to appreciate, I must admit it.

Many thanks! I feared maybe the fortress would be too much fantastic. The book description and all the real coastal castles I have seen made in my mind a image of Pyke more like a group or lonely towers distributed in much larger islands, linked by hidden bridges. But it was very boring ^_^.

Also the longship had a fox image like Theon's vessel, however the figure besides it seems a woman, probably Asha... but this is another history.

This is amazing! I just love the way you rendered the waves... Oh the infamous rope bridges of Pyke! The castle looks desolate yet strong and lasting... Congratulations, this is obviously the work of a great artist :)

Thanks for the post! It's lovely to read this comments! hope I have time do continue painting westeros castles ^_^.

But... :paranoid: the rope bridges of Pyke are funny not dangerous or infamous, Balon's dead was not accident! :P
:iconotherlander:
:) We still don't know the exact cause of Balon's death, mind you. And while the Faceless Man theory is quite plausible, it's not confirmed... And the bridges are dangerous when the wind blows. Theon almost fell off. So close and yet so far... :D

Faceless men?

I use to think more in Euron possible warg capacities or in his warloks.

Ups... Maybe this is not the best place for spoilers :P .
:iconotherlander:
That's a good idea too! I meant Euron might have hired a Faceless man to kill Balon. Nevertheless, I love Euron, can't help it... *is ashamed*
